Because I don't think I'm very good at this sort of self-describing/biographical/get-to-know-me paragraph, I will attempt to tell a bit about myself in a series of probably unrelated sentences as they pop into my head:
I am a compulsive list maker.
I am a logophile (lover of words) and wish I was a better writer.
I am the mother of 3 boys--Dylan, James, and Josiah.
I am the wife of Kyle (going on 8 years).
I am a music lover, guitar player, songwriter.
I am a Jill-of-all-trades-master-of-none.
I am an artist.
I am a crafter.
I love to travel and am trying to make it a higher priority. I've been to Italy, Ireland, Caribbean islands, and lots of places in the US. Top places I'd like to go next: London, Paris, and Prince Edward Island.
I love movies and am a fierce competitor in the game "Celebrity".
I love to sing with other women--duets, trios--it is such an ethereal joy.
I am a dedicated Christian--which means I strive to love all people, serve, pray, and live my life as close to the teachings of Christ as I can.
I love eating out.
I love learning. I love expanding my skills and my knowledge. I am interested in so many things. I love history and the stories of people of the past.
Some of my favorite things to do are going to concerts, plays, and art museums.
Friendship feeds my soul deeply.
I love mountains, forests, rivers, my Blue Ridge mountain home and the deserts of Utah where I grew up.
I make art because I have to. I have to keep my hands engaged. I love making things. My mentor Doug Himes said, "Art is important...it makes visible that which is invisible." I love that. I love thinking of a thing, imagining something or being inspired by someone or something, then wrestling with the elements to make something that didn't exist before. And if that thing I made touches someone else or means something to someone else, well, that's connection and that makes me very happy.
